1. Leftover crabcakes and red velvet cake for lunch. The crabcakes are from dinner with my dad for Father's Day yesterday, the red velvet is from the cake I made for the boy for his birthday!

2. Cornmeal buttermilk pancakes & BACON for breakfast made by my fantastic roommate.

1. Sleeping until 3:00.

2. Sorta successfully making not only a new Indian dish last night, but also a peach pie and whipped cream.

5. Initiating a talk about "important things" with the boy.

1. Having an actual desk to work at for the first time in a while.

2. Getting a call from the Paralegal asking if I could meet her for sushi for restaurant week.

1. Meeting the boy to go to the Archives to see the Emancipation Proclamation which was only on view for 6 days.

2. Being adopted by the family behind me in line when he left to go to work. (He came back when the line started moving again.)

3. Pre-adolescent boys roughhousing in the grass to keep warm.

4. The cool seal in the floor of the lobby to the Rotunda.

5. Seeing the country's founding documents for the first time. It was really moving to see not only the Emancipation Proclamation, but the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

4. Having a political conversation with my dad where we actually agree on something and the only yelling is for emphasis.

2. Spending the weekend with someone as wonderful as he is.

1. I am another year older today.

2. Which makes me 33. A multiple of 11 and a palindrome of a number. For some reason this makes me really happy.

3. I have been getting birthday withes from all over today. It's nice to be loved.

4. My mom im'd the happy birthday song to me and has promised red velvet cake.

5. I'm going out with my friends tonight. I am so grateful for all of them, even the ones who won't be there. They are my joy and happiness and as I have said before, I would be nowhere without them

1. No more migraine today!

2. Actually enjoying working with the IS department.

3. Dinner = buffalo burger with blue cheese and bacon and a yeungling.

4. Dessert = Coldstone ice cream!

5. The boy made reservations for V-Day at a sushi restaurant. So impressed.

1. Took the day off to go skiing with the Paralegal, but it was about 70F today, so no skiing but we hung out anyway.

2. Migraine is getting better after the lovely resident on call got me some more meds.

3. Falling asleep watching the last season of Angel. At 9:30.

4. Finally wearing my TMBG t-shirt.

5. Got my last issue of Domino. This was exciting but sad.

1. Coffee and doughnuts arriving at my door.

2. An actual Angel marathon with Ryan.

1. Had a lovely lunch at Mehak in Chinatown with the boy.

2. They had a buffet with all you can eat gulab jamun. My FAVORITE thing about Indian food.

3. It's the boy's favorite part about Indian food too.

4. They also had shahi paneer. My favorite entree.

5. The little shop next door which sold Chinese goods also had a large selection of Obama merch in their window.

1. Happy hour with the architect and the college student.

2. Pancakes and eggs for dinner!

3. Going to the movies with the boy.

4. Slumdog Millionaire may not have correctly represented Indian slums, but it made for an interesting movie.

5. The actors that play the youngest versions of the two main characters dancing together. Almost makes me want to have kids.

Nationally:

1. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act passes Senate.

2. Global Gag Rule GONE.

3. Gitmo to be closed within the year.

4. Torture BANNED.

5. Salaries for White House staff frozen.

6. No more blanket Executive Privilege.

Personally:

7. Friends. The people with whom I have surrounded myself in the past three years make me realize what I have missed out on all for most of my life. I love them dearly and would not be here without them, all of them. The Student and the Architect. The Staffer, the Paralegal and the Most-Christ-like-Christian. The Ecochick and her Lawyer. Thank you. You have no idea how important you are to me.

8. The Junior League Band at Black Cat last night with the Boy and his friends.

I'll stop now, but for today I could go on and on. I am so thrilled that the administration is living up to what I had only really hoped it would be in my wildest dreams.
